About

I have been teaching at the University of Tsukuba since April 2009 as associate professor on a contract basis. Starting April 2012, I will be a tenured associate professor at Daito Bunka University, Faculty of Foreign Languages (URL: http://www.daito.ac.jp/english/undergraduate/foreign_languages/english.html).
At Daito Bunka University, I will be part of the "European Dual-Language" program, where students can combine English as a major with either French or German as their minor. I will also teach at Daito Bunka's Graduate School.

I received my Ph.D. in history in 2009 from Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, one of Germany's oldest and most acclaimed universities. My (summa cum laude) thesis dealt with Karl Haushofer's role within German-Japanese Relations and will come out as a book in 2012.

A complete CV, list of articles, reviews and conference papers etc. is available on request. Some of my minor publications along with some reviews about my work can be found in the "Websites" section.
